Enter Your Caravan (Trailer) Specifications

The next step is to enter your caravan or trailer details. Just like with your vehicle, accurate specifications ensure safe, legal, and confident towing.
Caravan Description
This is simply a label for your own reference — for example: “2022 Jayco Journey Outback”.
Tare Weight
Tare Weight is the weight of your caravan as it leaves the factory, with empty water tanks and gas bottles.
If you're buying second-hand, keep in mind that previous owners may have added accessories — such as spare wheels, solar panels, or upgraded suspension — that aren’t reflected in the original Tare.
⚠️ Watch out: Some manufacturers list an average or pre-option Tare weight. Confirm with the seller or manufacturer whether your van's specific options are included.
Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM)
ATM is the maximum allowable weight of your fully loaded caravan when unhitched from the tow vehicle.
Gross Trailer Mass (GTM)
GTM is the total weight your caravan places on its wheels and axles when hitched. It excludes the tow ball mass, which is captured separately under ATM.
Ball Loading at Tare
This is the tow ball weight of the empty caravan.
🧠 LoadMate uses this value, combined with your added loads, to calculate your ball weight.
Max Permissible Ball Loading
The maximum vertical load that can be exerted on the trailer’s tow hitch.
Axle Group Load Capacity
This refers to the maximum weight your caravan’s axles are rated to carry, typically listed on the compliance plate.
