Marking Key Locations on Your Caravan

Just like with your vehicle, this step is best done on a tablet or larger screen, if available.

Once you’ve uploaded a side-on image of your caravan, you’ll be prompted to mark a few key reference points:

  1. Tap the centre of the caravan hitch
  2. Tap the front external wall of the caravan body
  3. Tap the centre of the wheel, or midway between both axles (for tandem setups)
  4. Tap the rear external wall of the caravan body

These points work together with the dimensions you entered earlier to calibrate LoadMate’s measurement tool — taking the stress out of trying to measure these locations manually with a tape measure.

Selecting Storage Locations

After calibration, you’ll be asked to mark five storage locations along the length of the caravan and provide a name for each one.

  • You can edit the name or distance at any time using the table at the bottom of the screen
  • Or, if needed, delete and reselect any point directly on the image
📏 Note: Measurements represent the distance from the axle centre to each storage location:
Points between the tow hitch and axle will show as positive (+)
Points rear of the axle will show as negative (–)

Once the five required locations are selected, a Save button will appear.

You can then either tap Continue, or add up to five more storage locations (for a total of ten) along the caravan’s length.

Choosing the Right Storage Points

Focus on the areas where major weights are typically stored, such as:

  • A frame and rear bar storage boxes
  • Tunnel boots
  • Water tanks
  • Bike racks
  • Internal storage cupboards

Aim for precision with heavier loads, but don’t stress about being exact with lighter items — a small compromise won’t affect your overall results in a meaningful way.

🔁 Tip: Need to start over? You can upload a new caravan image or reset your reference points at any time.
🔧 You can also update, rename, or add to your storage locations later via the Setup menu — LoadMate makes it easy to keep things up to date.
